What is Skinvive?+
Skinvive by Juvéderm is a prescription hyaluronic-acid injectable gel placed within the skin to improve smoothness. It contains lidocaine and is regulated as a dermal filler, but its treatment goal differs from a volumizing or contouring filler.
How is Skinvive different from traditional filler?+
Skinvive is placed intradermally in small amounts to improve skin smoothness. Traditional fillers are selected and placed to add support, shape, projection, or volume in a specific anatomic area.
Where can Skinvive be used?+
Current FDA labeling includes cheek skin smoothness and selected neck-line treatment in adults over 21. The exact area offered, placement depth, and candidacy are confirmed during consultation.
Does Skinvive add facial volume?+
Its purpose is not facial contouring or projection. Small amounts of gel are still being injected, so temporary swelling or small bumps can create an early sense of fullness before settling.
Does Skinvive “hydrate” the skin?+
Hyaluronic acid binds water, and clinical-study participants reported favorable skin-quality impressions. The FDA-approved treatment claim is improvement in skin smoothness, which is the more precise expectation to use.
When will I see the result?+
The early appearance includes injection-site changes and is not the final result. Smoothness is assessed after swelling and small bumps settle; the timing varies by area and individual response.
How long does Skinvive last?+
For the cheek indication, clinical-study improvement lasted about six months for many participants. No individual duration is guaranteed, and repeat timing depends on your response and current labeling.
Does Skinvive hurt?+
You may feel multiple brief pinches and pressure. The product contains lidocaine, and additional comfort measures may be discussed. Tell Dr. Chang about any lidocaine allergy or prior anesthetic reaction.
What is the downtime?+
Redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness, discoloration, itching, or injection-site lumps and bumps can occur. Schedule with enough time for visible reactions to settle before an important event.
Who should not receive Skinvive?+
Contraindications include severe allergies with a history of anaphylaxis, multiple severe allergies, allergy to gram-positive bacterial proteins, and lidocaine allergy. Infection, inflammation, pregnancy, medications, or other history may also change timing or candidacy.
Can Skinvive be dissolved?+
Because Skinvive is a hyaluronic-acid gel, hyaluronidase may sometimes be used to reduce it. Dissolving is a medical decision, can have its own risks, and does not guarantee an exact return to the starting appearance.
What symptoms are urgent after Skinvive?+
Contact the studio immediately for severe or increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, blistering, or a rapidly worsening change. Vision changes, weakness, trouble speaking, or another neurologic symptom require emergency care.
Can Skinvive be combined with Botox or filler?+
Sometimes. They address different concerns, and a staged plan may make swelling and each treatment’s contribution easier to evaluate. The areas, products, timing, and overall amount all matter.
